Ogum stays after crunch meeting at Manhyia calms down nerves. Dr. Prosper Nartey Ogum, Head Coach of Asante Kotoko will remain in charge of the team after a crunch stakeholder meeting held at the Manyhia Palace in Kumasi.

The embattled coach had come under intense pressure to resign following a poor run of results which has seen the team dropping from third spot at the beginning of the second round of the Ghana Premier League to 12th position.

To register their displeasure about the continuous decline in performance under the tutelage of Coach Ogum, some supporters stormed the Adako Jachie training ground on Tuesday to stop him from performing his duties since he had refused to resign honourably.

Following that disturbing development, the Manhyia Palace called for an emergency meeting on Thursday to seek remedy for the dwindling performance of a team that has won the league 24 times.

In attendance were the playing body, technical team, leadership of the supporters, and members of the Interim Management Committee.

The Life Patron of the Club, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II who chaired the meeting entreated the players to step up and halt the downward spiral the club was experiencing.

He told them he was expecting something better from them after the meeting, adding that, “none of you work for any individual but for me so I want you to put your differences aside and fight for the team”.

The King further entreated the players to prove to him that they were capable and that if the problem was the coach he would take a decision on him.

The meeting ended on a reconciliatory note with all the stakeholders pledging to work together for the collective good of the Porcupine Warriors.

Kotoko takes on Samartex 1996 who are currently occupying the summit of the league table in a match week 27 encounterat the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
