Ghana’s Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has hosted the 24th Annual General Meeting of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), calling on member states and stakeholders to show strong leadership and unity in advancing the bank’s development agenda.
In his welcome address, the Minister highlighted the growing expectations of citizens across the sub-region, stressing that institutions like EBID must deliver practical outcomes that improve lives and drive economic transformation.
He urged participants to approach discussions with a sense of urgency and purpose, emphasizing the importance of translating ambition into concrete results.
“The expectations of our citizens are high. They look to us for results,” he noted, encouraging delegates to focus on impactful decisions.
Dr. Forson also pointed out that the effectiveness of EBID will ultimately depend on the implementation of decisions made beyond the meeting, rather than the discussions alone.
Describing the gathering as a pivotal moment, he called for bold thinking and a shared commitment to achieving measurable development impact across the ECOWAS region.
He further expressed gratitude to member states, partners, and stakeholders for their continued support, acknowledging their contributions to the bank’s progress.
As host country, Ghana welcomed delegates and encouraged them to experience its rich culture and heritage during their stay.
The meeting brings together policymakers, financial experts, and development partners to assess EBID’s performance and explore strategies to strengthen regional investment and economic integration.
