The Coalition of Unemployed Graduates with Disabilities has warned it will stage a nationwide demonstration if its members are not provided with employment opportunities by March 24.
Addressing a press conference in Accra on March 16, a representative of the group, Princess Mensah, expressed concern that many graduates with disabilities remain unemployed despite having the necessary qualifications.
She noted that this situation continues even though the Persons with Disabilities Act, 2006 (Act 715) guarantees equal opportunities for persons living with disabilities.
The coalition is calling on the government to take immediate steps to remove systemic barriers that hinder access to employment for persons with disabilities.
Among their key demands are the introduction of a clear and actionable employment roadmap for graduates with disabilities, as well as the full enforcement of the employment quota provisions for persons with disabilities across all regions of the country.
