The Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) has refuted claims that the price of cement will increase by GH¢6 starting Monday, January 19, 2026, describing the reports as completely untrue.

In a public statement, the Authority said neither it nor the Cement Manufacturing Development Committee has issued any directive or approval for a price increase. It stressed that the circulating notice about an impending GH¢6 hike is false and should be disregarded.

According to the GSA, the Cement Manufacturing Development Committee, which includes the Authority, has not taken any decision to review or adjust cement prices.

The Authority cautioned the public against acting on unverified information, noting that such misinformation could cause unnecessary panic and disruption in the market.

It therefore advised consumers, businesses, and industry players to depend only on official communication channels for accurate and reliable information.

The statement was signed by the Director-General of the Ghana Standards Authority, Prof. George Agyei.
