Kotoka International Airport to resume international flights operations

The Kotoka International Airport has been cleared to resume international flights operations from Tuesday, 1st September, 2020, the president has announced.

During his 16th national address to the national on measures government is taking to tackle the coronavirus pandemic, the president has announced that airports have been officially cleared to operate international flights however, land and sea borders remain closed.

“Fellow Ghanaians I am glad to announce that  Kotoka International Airport will reopen and resume operations from Tuesday, September 1, 2020. This decision has been communicated to international airlines,” he said.

The president in his announcement has indicated several measures that has been put in place to prevent the resurgence of the virus into the country which has been duly  communicated to airlines wishing to resume flights to Ghana.

Some of these measures include:

  • children under five years will not be allowed to undergo testing at the airport
  • passengers who test positive for COVID-19 will be handled by health authorities for further clinical assessments and management
  • passengers who test negative can enter Ghana and go about their lawful activities
