Lincoln University will confer an honorary doctorate on John Dramani Mahama on March 26, 2026, in recognition of his leadership, public service, and global advocacy for reparative justice.

The honour comes shortly after Yonsei University awarded him an Honorary PhD in Public Administration, underscoring growing international recognition of his contributions to governance and development.

The ceremony in Pennsylvania will highlight Mahama’s role as the African Union Champion for Reparations, as well as his efforts in democratic governance and international cooperation.

The visit also reflects historic ties between Ghana and the university, notably through its distinguished alumnus Kwame Nkrumah, while coinciding with Mahama’s planned address to the United Nations General Assembly on declaring the transatlantic slave trade a crime against humanity.
