Evans, a former member of Team Adina, says his participation in the musical reality show helped shape his career and knowledge about stage performances.

He said that the reality show also helped him handle his songs to drive interest and audience engagement in his music.
“Everything, performance, handling songs, putting yourself in songs and making people feel you in your music were all learnt from Mentor

The budding artiste revealed that coaches training them to make renditions has helped him create his own music.

“During that time, we were doing people’s songs, but the coaches were teaching us how to make it our own and all. Now I am doing my own songs and able to express myself onto the songs. So you feel me more.”

Bullhaus Entertainment signee revealed that he willingly accepted to rebrand to suit his style of music. Adding that rebranding did not affect him because “everybody is catching on with my new brand”.

Explaining his stage name, he said ‘Van’ was coined from his real name, Evans. And ‘la’ also means ‘ to sing’ in the Ga Language. Hence Vanilla means, ‘Vani – sings’.

He added that the name was chosen to also suit “what the ladies can gravitate with”.

Speaking on his newly released music titled, ‘Sikilite’, he said the whole concept came from rekindling his relationship with his ex.
He stated that he wanted to preserve the highlife and RnB feel in the newly released.

“We wanted to do something fresh. Something not the usual. And at the same time, I wanted to preserve the highlife and RnB part. That’s how you hear this beautiful masterpiece.”

Vanilla boasted of his vocal prowess as he mentioned that his voice and style of music attracts people due to its uniqueness. The musical artiste revealed that he will choose a live band over miming, although a live band could be difficult.

“No matter the genre of music, you will feel me on it. You will feel my uniqueness and my voice. A live band is all about improvisation. If you are in tune with the band, it makes it a good performance.

“I have different personas, and it is just one side of me that people know. So the other side of me that people don’t know, they get to know me through my music”.

‘Sikilite’ is available for downloads and streaming on all digital music platforms.
