President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, visited two Ghanaian survivors of the recent terrorist attack in Burkina Faso who are currently receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.

The two survivors were among a group of Ghanaian tomato traders travelling on a truck when armed assailants ambushed the vehicle.

According to reports, the attackers lined up the male passengers and killed them before setting the truck ablaze in a brutal assault.

Seven Ghanaians who lost their lives in the incident have since been buried.

President Mahama, who had earlier been in Takoradi on official assignment, proceeded directly to the hospital upon arrival in Accra to engage the survivors and receive first-hand accounts of the tragic incident.

He was accompanied by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah.

During the visit, the President commiserated with the victims and assured them that the government would fully absorb their medical expenses.

The survivors were repatriated to Ghana by the Ghana Armed Forces and are currently undergoing counselling, alongside the necessary psychosocial and medical support. Those who sustained injuries are receiving treatment at the military medical facility.
