The Yale School of Management (SOM), the graduate business school of Yale University, has named Togbe Afede XIV as Chairman of its Council of Global Advisors, effective February 16, 2026.

The Council of Global Advisors is made up of influential international leaders who provide strategic guidance to the school’s dean and senior leadership on expanding the institution’s global presence and reputation.

Members of the council contribute to key discussions, share professional expertise, and support major initiatives undertaken by the school. The body includes both alumni and non-alumni drawn from a wide range of countries and professional fields.

Council members are expected to take an active role by participating in meetings, collaborating with fellow advisors, and offering insights to support the school’s programmes and global strategy.

According to the school, Togbe Afede XIV’s appointment reflects recognition of his distinguished leadership, professional experience, and contributions throughout his career.

In his new role, he will work with a group of prominent global leaders to advise the school’s leadership on advancing its strategic objectives. His responsibilities will include helping define the council’s priorities, guiding member engagement, and collaborating closely with the Dean of the school, Kerwin Charles, and other members of the leadership team.

His expertise is also expected to support efforts to strengthen student recruitment across different regions, raise global awareness of the school’s mission, and expand partnerships with organisations worldwide.

Togbe Afede XIV will serve a three-year term, with the option of renewal, and will also hold an ex-officio position on the school’s Board of Advisors.
