Right. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. (Rtd) Bliss Divine Agbeko, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana Monday says bringing up children is not a mere rhetoric.

He said this is so because “every child is a special flower from God, the creator.” Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. Agbeko said this in his goodwill message to the Church on the occasion of the Children Ministry week celebration of the Church which was launched in all congregations of the Church on Sunday.

It is on the theme: “Care for Creation: The task and mission of the Church.” The Moderator reminded parents that they have a charge to keep and a God to glorify in bringing up their children in a godly way for the children not to depart in their youthful and adult lives.

“Let us train our children diligently through love and discipline by setting ourselves as examples for them to emulate,” he advised. He said this divine assigned duty aligned with the theme of the celebration, saying, “As parents our children deserve conscious attention from us, we cannot afford to fail them,” he noted. The Moderator said the nurturing the children received today would place them at esteem places where they would contribute meaningfully to the growth of the church and society at large.

He called on the children to use the occasion to showcase their talents to the world. The Moderator asked them to be very strong and confident and trust God to prepare them and lead them into their future lives. He expressed the profound gratitude of the leadership of the Church to all children service teachers in all congregations of the church for the wonderful work they were doing to mold the future leaders of the church.

Rt. Rev. Agbeko said their commitment and dedication towards the spiritual growth of the children were very much appreciated, adding, “Without you the Children Ministry of the Church cannot function.” The Moderator appealed to all congregations of the Church to show utmost enthusiasm and support towards the weeklong activities that would be climaxed by a thanksgiving and fundraising service on Sunday, 16th March, 2015.

Some activities lined up for the celebration include symposiums, career education, Bible quiz, a night of hymns and prayer, talent show and drama, and cleanup exercises.
