The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has announced a nationwide strike beginning Monday, March 9, 2026, directing all members in the Civil Service and Local Government Service to stay at home.

In a notice dated March 5 and signed by Executive Secretary Isaac Bampoe Addo, the union explained that the decision follows unresolved negotiations with government authorities regarding a unique salary structure and improved conditions of service.

CLOGSAG’s National Executive Council (NEC) had earlier warned on February 19 that industrial action would be taken if the outstanding issues were not addressed.

Despite multiple reminders to the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, promises to implement the new salary structure—originally scheduled for January 2025—remain unfulfilled.

The association urged members nationwide to comply with the directive until further notice, stressing that the strike is necessary to press for long-delayed reforms.
