Two people have lost their lives and five others sustained injuries following a road crash at Third Ridge Junction along the Accra–Cape Coast Highway.

The accident, which occurred around 7:00 a.m. on April 28, 2026, involved a Toyota Corolla and a HOWO tipper truck.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service, personnel from its Cape Coast Regional Headquarters responded promptly after receiving a distress call and found the Corolla driver trapped in the vehicle. He was rescued and rushed to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital but was later pronounced dead.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the Corolla was heading toward Accra when its driver slowed down after noticing a pick-up vehicle dangerously overtaking and attempting to move into the lane of an oncoming tipper truck.

In an effort to avoid a collision, the truck reportedly swerved off its lane. However, while trying to return, the driver lost control and collided with the Corolla.

All victims were transported to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, where the injured are receiving treatment.

Authorities have yet to release further updates on the condition of the survivors, while investigations into the incident are ongoing.
