Former Inspector-General of Police, Paul Tawiah Quaye, has reportedly passed away after a period of illness.

Although official confirmation from his family is still pending, tributes have begun pouring in from senior figures within the Ghana Police Service, recognising his contributions to law enforcement.

Mr. Quaye was appointed IGP in 2009 by the late President John Evans Atta Mills. During his tenure, he was known for promoting discipline within the service and introducing reforms aimed at strengthening professionalism and public trust.

Widely described by colleagues as calm yet authoritative, he earned respect for his leadership style and commitment to modernising the police force. He retired in 2013 after many years of service.
