The Ashanti Regional Management of Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has announced the temporary shutdown of the Odaso Water Treatment Plant due to power supply challenges.

The shutdown took effect on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., following a fault in a transformer at Sewhi Asarenso, which supplies electricity to the plant.

According to a statement issued by GWL on Monday, February 16, engineers from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) are currently working to repair the faulty transformer and restore power to enable the resumption of operations at the facility.

“Engineers from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) are currently working to rectify the fault and restore power to enable the resumption of operations at the Odaso Treatment Plant,” the statement said.

The disruption has affected water supply to several communities, including Bidieso, Nyameso, Brahabebome, Kokoteasua, Abompekrom, Boete, Akaporiso, Tutuka, Anyinam, and surrounding areas.

Management of Ghana Water Limited apologised for the inconvenience caused and assured residents that water supply will be restored promptly once electricity is reinstated and the treatment plant resumes full operations.
