The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Maame Efua Houadjeto, has been honoured with the Ghana Women of Excellence Gold Award at the 2026 edition of the Ghana Women of Excellence Awards, held to commemorate International Women’s Day.
The recognition was presented during the 11th awards ceremony at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel. The event brought together prominent personalities, leaders and advocates of women’s empowerment to celebrate women who have made significant contributions to national development.
Mrs Houadjeto was honoured in the Corporate Communications category for her role in advancing Ghana’s social and economic development, particularly through her leadership and strategic communication initiatives within the tourism industry.
The award was presented by Joyce Rosalind Aryee, Executive Director of Salt and Light Ministries, who praised the recipients for their dedication, professionalism and commitment to national progress.
Her recognition underscores her efforts to strengthen institutional communication, promote Ghana’s tourism brand and support initiatives aimed at positioning the country as a leading tourism destination. Her leadership continues to support the use of tourism as a tool for economic growth, cultural preservation and job creation.
Speaking after receiving the award, Mrs Houadjeto expressed appreciation to the organisers of the Ghana Women of Excellence Awards for the honour.
She dedicated the recognition to the management and staff of the Ghana Tourism Authority, acknowledging their dedication and support in advancing the institution’s work.
Mrs Houadjeto also used the occasion of International Women’s Day to celebrate Ghanaian women who continue to break barriers and contribute to national development, encouraging continued collaboration to build a stronger and more prosperous nation.
