Heath Goldfields has fully settled outstanding salaries, severance packages, and statutory arrears owed to both former and current workers of the Bogoso-Prestea Mine, bringing relief to employees after years of unresolved payments following the exit of Future Global Resources.
The payments cover liabilities that had remained unpaid for several years and affected hundreds of workers who had consistently demanded the settlement of their entitlements.
To mark the resolution of the issue, management of Heath Goldfields joined the Branch Chairman of the Ghana Mine Workers’ Union at the company in a thank-you walk to appreciate management’s efforts.
Speaking to Citi News, Managing Director Patrick Mensah and Union Branch Chairman Patrick Lartey confirmed that the vast majority of affected workers had already received their payments, while a few others were completing verification procedures.
Mr Mensah explained that the severance payments covered about 212 workers, with approximately 210 beneficiaries already completing documentation and receiving their funds.
According to him, the remaining workers are expected to complete account verification processes before receiving payment.
He noted that nearly 98 percent of affected workers had successfully received their entitlements, adding that the company considers the long-standing issue substantially resolved.
