The Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU), Ghana has been recognised for its exceptional role in advocating for labour rights and fostering industrial harmony in the country. The award was presented at the 3rd Ghana Development Awards, organised by Business Executive during a ceremony in Accra, which brought together leaders from government, business, and diplomatic circles across Africa.

ICU Ghana received the accolade for its Outstanding Contribution to Labour Rights and Industrial Harmony for National Development, presented to General Secretary Morgan Ayawine in the form of a medal, plaque, and certificate. The organisers commended the union’s innovative leadership, strategic partnerships, and ongoing efforts that have strengthened socio-economic development, inspired resilience, and supported national progress.

Speaking on behalf of the union, Mr Ayawine dedicated the award to ICU-Ghana’s management, staff, members, and Ghanaian workers, describing it as both an inspiration and a springboard for continued advocacy.

As one of Ghana’s leading labour unions, ICU remains committed to championing workers’ welfare and maintaining harmonious industrial relations nationwide.
