The Ministry of the Interior, working jointly with the Diaspora Affairs Office of the President, has announced a temporary suspension of the Ghanaian citizenship application process for historical diasporans.
In a statement released on Sunday, February 1, the two institutions said the decision is part of ongoing efforts to review, streamline, and strengthen the application system to make it more efficient, accessible, and user-friendly.
The temporary pause, they explained, will allow for key adjustments and process improvements aimed at ensuring a smoother and more seamless experience for applicants once the process resumes.
Both the Ministry of the Interior and the Diaspora Affairs Office of the President reaffirmed their commitment to members of the global African family, assuring them of Ghana’s continued openness and readiness to welcome them home.
The statement further noted that revised timelines and updated application guidelines will be announced through official communication channels in due course.
