Kindergarten teacher wins Ghana Teacher Prize 2024

A Kindergarten teacher at Madina SDA Basic school in the Greater Accra Region, Fuseina Fuseini has been crowned the overall best teacher at the Ghana Teacher Prize 2024.

The 47-year-old, who has been in the teaching profession for more than a decade attributed the national recognition to consistency in hard work and her innovative drive.

I want to encourage all teachers across the country to also put in their best by adopting innovative ways of improving teaching and learning outcomes”, Madam Fuseina emphasized.

15 other outstanding teaching and non-teaching staff were rewarded for distinguishing themselves.

Whilst appreciating the contribution of teachers to national development, the Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum assured them of addressing their concerns over conditions of service.

“Tier 2 issues are being thoroughly discussed and it will be resolved soon. The welfare of the teacher is dear to government and efforts are being done to improve it”.

The Registrar of National Teaching Council, Dr Christian Addai-Poku stressed on the importance of celebrating the Ghanaian teacher.

Valuing teachers voices goes beyond policy. It is about building a culture of respect, trust, and collaboration in schools and communities”.

The awardees were presented with cash prizes, brand new vehicles, and the overall honoured with a 3 bedroom house and a full international scholarship.

The Ghana Teacher Prize spearheaded by the National Teaching Council is to recognize and motivate teachers to give their maximum best in the discharge of their professional duties.
