President John Dramani Mahama has named Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu as Ghana’s High Commissioner-designate to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The appointment comes after the recall of Baba Jamal, who chose to contest the Ayawaso East by-election following the passing of Member of Parliament Nasser Mahama Toure.

The announcement was made in a statement shared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday, March 1.

Baba Sadiq, who served as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Okaikwei Central in the 2024 general election, is expected to represent Ghana’s interests in Nigeria and help deepen diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries.
