John Dramani Mahama has been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Public Administration by Yonsei University in Seoul, in recognition of his contributions to national development, economic transformation, and engagement with the international academic community.
The honour was presented on Friday, March 13, 2026, by the university’s leadership, including President Yoon Dog-sup and Kim Hyun-chul.
In his acceptance remarks, Mahama said the recognition was not just a personal achievement but one shared with the people of Ghana. He described the award as a symbol of the strong mutual respect and growing relationship between Ghana and South Korea.
He also highlighted the need for stronger international cooperation and the importance of empowering young people. Mahama expressed hope that the friendship between the two nations would continue to deepen, urging leaders and citizens alike to prioritise peace, collaboration, truth, and excellence.
The honorary doctorate underscores Mahama’s long-standing role in public service and global engagement while further strengthening diplomatic and academic ties between Ghana and South Korea.
