The High Commission of India in Accra has announced the opening of applications for scholarships available to Ghanaian students under programmes run by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) for the 2026–2027 academic year.
The scholarships, offered through India’s Ministry of External Affairs, will allow qualified Ghanaian students to pursue undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral studies at accredited universities and institutions across India in a wide range of academic fields.
According to the High Commission, the initiative is part of ongoing educational collaboration between Ghana and India, aimed at promoting academic exchange and strengthening human resource development.
For the upcoming academic year, two main scholarship schemes are available. Under the India–Africa Maitri Scholarship Scheme, 70 slots have been allocated for Ghanaian students to study in both STEM and non-STEM disciplines at participating universities in India.
Another opportunity is offered through the Lata Mangeshkar Dance and Music Scholarship Scheme, which focuses on Indian arts and culture. Programmes under this scheme include dance, music, theatre, performing arts, sculpture, Indian languages, and Indian cuisine, as well as a one-year diploma course in yoga at selected institutions.
Successful applicants will receive comprehensive financial support, including return economy airfare, full tuition, a monthly stipend, accommodation support, and other academic allowances in line with ICCR guidelines.
Applications must be submitted through the ICCR Admission to Alumni (A2A) Scholarship Portal. The application window opened on February 27, 2026, and will close on April 15, 2026.
Prospective applicants are encouraged to review the eligibility requirements, academic criteria, and participating institutions before submitting their applications. Additional information is available on the website of the High Commission of India in Accra, and enquiries can be directed to the mission via email.
