President John Dramani Mahama will present Ghana’s 2026 State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament today, Friday, February 27.
The speech will outline the country’s current status, highlight achievements across major sectors, and set forth government priorities for the year.
Key areas expected to be addressed include the economy, healthcare, education, agriculture, infrastructure, and Ghana’s global commitments.
The address fulfills Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, which mandates the President to report to Parliament at the start of each session. Ahead of the presentation, the Minority has called for practical solutions to challenges facing Ghanaian youth, particularly unemployment and economic hardship. Meanwhile, Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has instructed MPs to be seated by 8:30 a.m. without late entries.
The SONA is anticipated to shape legislative and policy direction for 2026, offering a roadmap for national development
