Parliament has passed the University of Engineering and Agricultural Sciences Bill, 2025, paving the way for the creation of a new public institution and outlining its governance and management framework.

The Bill, presented by John Abdulai Jinapor on behalf of Haruna Iddrisu, was reviewed by the Education Committee in consultation with key stakeholders, including Clement Apaak and officials from the Ministry of Education and the Attorney-General’s Department.

It designates Bunsu in the Eastern Region as the main campus, with additional campuses in Kenyasi in the Ashanti Region and Acherensua in the Ahafo Region, reflecting a strategy to decentralise tertiary education and expand access.

The Committee described the legislation as timely, noting that it strengthens governance structures, promotes academic freedom, and enhances transparency and accountability in line with Article 106 of the 1992 Constitution.
