Owning an ushering company seemed to be the last item on Portia Kwarteng’s bucket list, till opportunity came knocking and she opened the door of entrepreneurship.

In an interview with myghanadaily.com, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Protocols Africa Ushering Limited, Portia Kwarteng confessed that ushering was not a business idea that she ever considered.

According to her, the idea of ushering came up when her boss told her to mobilize an ushering team for an upcoming event. That was when she struck the gold mine.

By killing two birds with one stone, Portia Kwarteng offered a job opportunity to job-seeking friends and accomplished her task of getting ushers for her boss.

“In 2018 when I was working at Lizzy Sports Complex, I suddenly got the urge of starting a business on the side. I wrote down all my abilities but could not pinpoint the appropriate one that I could easily work with. One day, my boss asked me to provide ushers for an event. It occurred to me that I could use this opportunity to help some of my colleagues to get a temporal income while waiting to get a full-time job,” she disclosed.

Services offered by Protocols Africa Ushering Limited include event hosting, waiting (waiters), dowry bearing, TV commercial modeling, exhibition booth assistance.

Protocols Africa Ushering Limited has coordinated over 250 events within three years, with partners ranging from Giz, AMCHAM, Ghana South Africa Chamber, Jandel ltd, All talent Bridals, Rachelle Events, Merck Foundation- Italy.
