Women’s voices silenced: NDC Regional women organizer decries hindrances in politics

Madam Paulina Magyam, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Regional Women Organizer in the Oti Region, has lamented the numerous hindrances facing female politicians in Ghana, citing a significant decline in women’s participation in politics.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Women Organizer expressed concern over the systemic barriers and biases that prevent women from participating fully in the political process.

She noted that despite efforts to promote gender equality, women continue to face significant obstacles in their pursuit of political careers.

Madam Magyam identified several challenges, including limited access to resources, lack of mentorship and support, and societal stereotypes that perpetuate gender-based discrimination. She emphasized that these hindrances not only silence women’s voices but also undermine the country’s democratic progress.

The Women Organizer called on stakeholders, including political parties, civil society organizations, and government institutions, to work together to address these challenges. She advocated for policies and programs that promote women’s empowerment, leadership development, and equal representation in politics.

She advised her fellow women to take an active role in decision making process, she emphasized the importance of women’s participation in shaping their communities and the country at large. Madam Magyam said by involving themselves in decision making, women can ensure that their voices are heard, and their concerns addressed.
