The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has commenced full investigations into the banking and financial sector crisis.

The crisis led to the collapse of some nine domestic banks and other financial institutions.

Following the banking clean-up exercise, analysts called on the state to prosecute officials at the central bank under the previous regime whose actions and inaction resulted in the banking failures.

For instance, a financial analyst, Mr. Joe Jackson wondered why those officials had not been held liable for their stewardship.

But the OSP said in a statement on Tuesday, January 25 that the investigation will target alleged corruption and corruption-related offenses perpetrated by officials of the Bank of Ghana, banks, specialized deposit-taking institutions, and all financial holding companies.
