Madam Obuobia Darko-Opoku, the newly appointed Acting. Deputy Managing Director of Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), has been introduced to staff.
She had earlier been introduced to the Management team and the Executives of the Divisional Union of GACL. Madam Darko-Opoku was introduced to staff by Mrs. Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, the Managing Director of GACL at a durbar held at the premises of GACL. Mrs Opare in a statement issued in Accra welcomed the new appointee and congratulated her on the appointment.
She noted that GACL had a dedicated pool of hardworking staff who were eager and ready to provide the necessary support to further the interest and aspirations of the company. Mrs. Opare was confident that the arrival of the Deputy Managing Director would complement available expertise and foster growth. Madam Obuobia Darko- Opoku expressed appreciation and total satisfaction with the level of reception accorded her.
She said open communication, teamwork and a collaborative mindset were key tenets that had defined all her corporate endeavours. Madam Darko-Opoku encouraged staff to view her as a partner who was ready to learn, grow and evolve. The Deputy Managing Director is a distinguished executive with extensive expertise in corporate management, human resource leadership, strategic communications, and institutional growth.
She has a proven track record of driving organizational transformation, optimizing corporate structures, and enhancing stakeholder engagement across multiple sectors. She served as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority, where she played a pivotal role in operational oversight, business development, and strategic reforms. Her leadership was instrumental in improving institutional efficiency, streamlining policy implementation, and driving sustainable growth.
With a strong foundation in Human Resource Management, Madam Darko-Opoku has led high-performing teams, championed talent development initiatives, and implemented corporate policies that enhance productivity and organizational excellence. Her expertise spans corporate services, governance, and administration, positioning her as a leader in fostering high-impact workplace cultures.
Beyond corporate leadership, she has excelled in brand management, public relations, and media strategy, shaping and protecting institutional reputations. As the founder of the Ignite Youth Empowerment Initiative, she has mentored and empowered hundreds of young women in leadership, career development, and personal growth.
Madam Darko-Opoku holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management and advanced master’s degrees in Brands and Communications Management (University of Professional Studies) and Public Relations (Ghana Institute of Journalism). She is currently pursuing a PhD in Marketing, further solidifying her expertise in business strategy, stakeholder engagement, and institutional advancement.
