The Afro-Arab Group has launched its Work-and-Pay Electric Vehicle (EV) Programme as part of efforts to create 2,000 direct and indirect jobs through the deployment of 1,000 electric vehicles nationwide.

The initiative was unveiled on Monday, February 23, 2026, at the Group’s headquarters in Accra, where the first batch of 50 electric vehicles was handed over to beneficiaries. Organisers indicated that the remaining 950 vehicles will be delivered in phases within the shortest possible time.

The programme was officially launched by George Opare Addo on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama.

Representatives from Imperial General Insurance, Republic Bank Ghana and AETS Ghana were present at the event, highlighting the collaborative partnership supporting the project.

Chairman of the Group, Alhaji Salamu Amadu, stated that the initiative is aimed at addressing unemployment by providing sustainable income opportunities for young people through a structured payment model that allows beneficiaries to earn while gradually taking ownership of the vehicles.

The programme is expected to promote environmentally friendly transport solutions while expanding employment opportunities across the country.
