Alhaji Maulvi Mohammed Bin Salih, Ameer (Head) and Missionary-in-charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, has advised the newly elected government against political and economic nepotism and cronyism.
He warned that nepotism and cronyism bred injustice and posed significant threat to national peace and security. Alhaji Bin Salih gave the caution at the 92nd National Annual Convention of the Mission at Gomoa Pomadze near Winneba Junction in the Central Region.
The three-day event held on the theme: “Justice and peace – the essential ingredients for national development”, was graced by President John Dramani Mahama as the Guest of Honour.
It was attended by more than 50,0000 Ghanaian Ahmadi Muslims as well as traditional leaders and high-ranking political leaders.
Alhaji Bin Salih observed that the dangers of nepotism were as dire as racism, lamenting the high incidence of nepotism in the governance of Ghana. He reminded President Mahama that his dramatic election to the high office under the turbulent circumstances in the history of the country indicated the high expectations of the people.
“The goodwill Ghanaians have shown you through emphatically endorsing you as President must be seen to have spoken loudly that Ghanaians are no more in the mood of giving the abuse of their emotions and trampling upon their rights to God”.
