The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has paid a historic visit to the headquarters of the Ghana Police Service, in a symbolic gesture underscoring the strong support of traditional authority for law enforcement in the country.

The visit, which took place on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, brought together the revered monarch, senior police officials, and other traditional leaders, and has been described as a landmark moment in relations between the police and traditional institutions.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, alongside the Police Management Board, warmly received the Asantehene and briefed him on key initiatives aimed at enhancing public safety and strengthening crime prevention efforts nationwide.

In his remarks, the IGP expressed deep appreciation for the Asantehene’s consistent and longstanding support for the Police Service.

He noted that Otumfuo has, over the years, served as a fatherly figure to the police leadership, offering guidance, counsel, and encouragement, and hosting several IGPs and senior officers in the spirit of cooperation and mutual respect.

The visit highlights ongoing efforts to deepen collaboration between traditional authorities and state security agencies, as part of a broader strategy to promote peace, security, and effective law enforcement across Ghana.
