The Assemblies of God Church, Greater Accra East Region, is holding its seventh Regional Council Meeting, at Shai-Hills, to deliberate on matters of faith and national development.

The meeting, which is expected to end on Friday, April 04, 2025, is being attended by church leaders and government officials from various sectors of the country. The meeting will be a platform for leaders to discuss strategies for strengthening the church’s mission and enhancing its impact on society while reinforcing the significance of prayer as a tool for achieving both spiritual and national progress.

The event, themed: “Pray Without Ceasing for Supernatural Manifestations”, was officially opened by Rev. Dr. Stephen Yenusom Wengam, the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church, Ghana. Rev. Dr. Wengam underscored the importance of prayer in the growth of the church and the nation, urging members to remain steadfast in interceding for Ghana’s progress.

He stated that the Assemblies of God Church has 24 administrative regions, and it was imperative that they meet annually to render accounts and evaluate church activities, adding that the church also has over 85 million members worldwide, with more than 20 million in Africa. He further disclosed that in 2026, Ghana would host a massive international conference of the Assemblies of God Church, bringing together representatives from over 190 countries worldwide.

Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Laryea, Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, in a keynote address, called on the council to continuously pray for the success of the government to ensure the needed development of the nation. She expressed appreciation to the church for its spiritual support and acknowledged the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama in steering the affairs of the country.

“As a government, we recognise the role of the church in nation-building, and we seek your continued prayers for Ghana’s transformation,” she emphasised.
