The Cape Coast Youth Development Association (CCYDA) has marked a significant milestone as it celebrated its 15th anniversary with a commendable initiative aimed at promoting education in Cape Coast.

As part of the anniversary celebration, CCYDA launched exercise books distribution drive, ensuring that students across Cape Coast South and North received the much-needed learning materials. In total, 10,000 exercise books were distributed to various schools within the Metropolis with St. Monica’s Primary School, and Junior High School (JHS) emerging major beneficiaries, each receiving 300 exercise books.

The event, held at St. Monica’s Basic School, was more than just an anniversary celebration, it was a demonstration of CCYDA’s unwavering commitment to supporting education and fostering academic growth among young learners. It brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the Cape Coast Metropolitan Education Directorate, teachers, executive committee members of CCYDA, and a representative of the Association’s Chief Patron, Dr James Condua Orleans-Lindsay.

Their presence underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in enhancing educational opportunities for students in the Metropolis. A highlight of the event was the sponsorship packages of Dr James Condua Orleans-Lindsay, Executive Chairman of JL Properties Ltd, who is also the Chancellor of Cape Coast Technical University.

His unwavering support played a pivotal role in making the initiative a success, reflecting his deep commitment to youth empowerment and quality education. Through his generous sponsorship, CCYDA has undertook a large-scale distribution of essential educational materials, reinforcing its mission to provide students with the necessary resources to excel in their studies.

Additionally, thirty-one selected schools from Cape Coast North and South were provided with 200 exercise books each, extending the reach of the initiative to a broader spectrum of students. The distribution exercise was warmly received by school authorities, teachers, and students, who expressed their gratitude to CCYDA and Dr Orleans-Lindsay for their benevolence.

A founding member and Organiser of CCYDA, Mr Stephen  Doffoe Forson noted that the initiative would alleviate the burden on parents while ensuring that students had the necessary materials to effectively participate in academic activities.

He said that the Association remained dedicated to championing youth development, with education as a key pillar of its initiatives. He reiterated that CCYDA would continue to seek partnerships and support to sustain such educational interventions, ensuring that no child in Cape Coast was left behind due to a lack of basic learning materials.

“The 15th-anniversary celebration was not only a time for reflection on CCYDA’s achievements but also an opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to making a lasting impact in the lives of young learners. “With continued support from stakeholders, the association hoped to expand its educational outreach in the coming years, reinforcing the belief that education remained a powerful tool for community transformation,” Mr Doffoe added.

An anniversary cake was cut to commemorate the day.
