Nana Kwasi Aduhene, Chief of Sefwi-Kofikrom in the Juaboso district of the Western North Region, will soon form a taskforce to monitor the youth in the community to prevent their involvement in drug abuse.

Nana Kwasi Aduhene speaking at a dinner organized by the Native Movement Youth Association of Kofikrom. expressed concern about the high number of youth engaged in hard drugs.

The chief noted that drugs abuse was destroying the future of the next generation, adding that it has especially led the youth to   engage in activities such as robbery, rape, defilement, and other vices and called for concerted efforts to end the canker.

The traditional ruler hinted   his outfit would help intensify the education of the youth in the community on the negative effects of drug abuse.

He used the opportunity to appeal to the government and other non-governmental organisations to help provide jobs for the youth since according to him, unemployment was a major cause of drug abuse among the youth.

Mr. James Gyabeng, President of the Native Movement Youth Association noted the concerns raised by the chief and appealed to the Member of Parliament for the area through the government to recruit more youth from the area into the security agencies to reduce unemployment and crime in the area.
