Reverend Eric Dzansi, Aflao District Pastor of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG) Sunday called on Christians to be instruments of reconciliation.
“In a world divided by conflicts, hatred and discord Christians should be seen as instruments of reconciliation,” he noted. Rev. Dzansi made the call in an online sermon taken from Genesis 45: 3 -11, 15, I Corinthians 15: 42 – 50 and Luke 6: 27 – 38 on the theme, “love your enemies” and monitored by the Ghana News Agency in Ho.
He stated that one of the most radical challenging and Christlike command in the Bible was to love and pray for one’s enemies. Rev. Dzansi said this command was not a mere idealistic wish but a transformative way of living that embodied the grace and mercy of God.
He advised them to choose the path of forgiveness and reconciliation instead of vengeance, retribution, and division. The Rev. Minister noted that the ability to love and forgive their enemies was rooted in the understanding of God’s sovereignty and redemptive work in all circumstances.
He stated that forgiving and loving of their enemies would open the door of God’s greater purpose for their lives adding, “it reflects the love of God and makes his kingdom visible on earth.” He noted that it also released them from the chains of bitterness as well as opened up space for healing.
Rev. Dzansi said what the world needed now was the love of God that transcended human norms to be mirrored by Christians. He urged them to speak words of hope, life, and blessings because such words have the power to heal, uplift and redeem. Rev. Dzansi urged Christians to live as a living testament and agents of God’s redemptive love in this broken world.
