A thanksgiving service was held on March 15, 2026, in honour of Samuel Amadu Basentale, the Comptroller-General of the Ghana Immigration Service, at the United Assemblies of God Church.

Delivering the sermon, Stephen Wengam, who also serves as Chairman of the Governing Council of the Ghana Immigration Service, encouraged leaders to embrace servant leadership as a means of transforming the institutions they lead.

He urged leaders to place the needs of their followers first and empower them to realise their potential while contributing meaningfully to the growth of the organisations or communities they serve. Rev. Wengam emphasised that servant leadership remains the most effective leadership model, referencing the example set by Jesus Christ in the Gospel of John, particularly in John 13.

The thanksgiving service was officiated by Rev. Wengam with support from members of the Executive Presbytery of Assemblies of God Ghana, district pastors and the chaplain of the Ghana Immigration Service.

Special prayers were also offered for Mr Basentale, the directorates and the entire Ghana Immigration Service.

In his remarks, Mr Basentale expressed gratitude to God for his elevation and thanked Assemblies of God Ghana for the spiritual guidance and support that helped shape his journey to the leadership position.
