The election petition challenging the election of Godwin Animli Dorgbadzi Dorani as Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa that was filed by former Trade and Industry Minister Kobina Tahiru Hammond has been thrown out by the High Court in Obuasi.

    K. T. Hammond was fined 60,000 shillings by the court on August 19, 2025, under the direction of Justice Kwabena Twumasi, for what it called a waste of time.  Dorani defeated Hammond by 954 votes in the 2024 general election for the Adansi Asokwa seat, receiving 14,229 votes to Hammond’s 13,275.

Dissatisfied with the outcome, the former Minister filed a petition at the Obuasi High Court on January 15, 2025.

However, after failing to appear before the court on three consecutive occasions, the court proceeded to deliver its ruling on August 19, 2025.

Speaking to the media after the proceedings, counsel for the incumbent MP, Richard Andy, said the petition had no legal basis.

He added that the ruling would allow his client to focus on his mandate.
