    EC Outdoors New Filling Processes for Prospective Presidential Candidates

    The  Electoral Commission (EC) chairperson, Madam Jean Adukwei Mensah says prospective Presidential Candidates going into the December general polls no longer have to go through the burden of coming to the commission to pick up their nomination forms before filling.

    She said, “they simply have to visit our website and download the various forms”

    Speaking to Journalists on Monday, she added that the ongoing new voter registration exercise has been peaceful so far and the registration has attracted persons with disabilities to partake in the exercise.

    “So far, 46,232 persons with disabilities have been registered, which represents 0.04% of registration”, she added.

    Figures from the EC also show that, Greater Accra has had 2,615,925 registrants while the Ashanti Region and Eastern Region followed  with 2,089,923 and 1,084,734 applicants respectively.

    Madam Jean Mensah revealed that there will be a mop-up exercise once the need arises. The Electoral Commission (EC) says the mop-up exercise for the mass voter registration exercise will only be conducted on a need basics.

    “The mop exercise will be held in selected areas based on information from our offices as to the number of of applicants who still have not presented themselves for registration”, she said.

    EC has registered over 12,371,651 representing 82% of estimated 15million so far.

    EC therefore encouraged persons with disabilities to take advantage to register at EC’s offices as soon as possible since they are eligible to exercise their franchise come December, 2020.
