The Kibi Magistrate Court in the Abuakwa South Municipality of the Eastern Region, presided over by Her Worship Juliet Osei-Duedo, has granted bail to five individuals arrested for allegedly impersonating officials of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS).

The suspects — Paul Agbenu, Moses Dablam, Christopher Amakor, Casmir Nunekpeku, and Wisdom Miwonuko — were arrested on January 2, 2026, at Potrease near Kyebi for allegedly posing as officials of NAIMOS.

They were charged with four counts of conspiracy to commit extortion, extortion, and falsely pretending to be public officers. All five pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The court subsequently admitted each of them to bail with the condition that they provide two sureties each, one of whom must be a government worker earning between GHS 3,000 and GHS 4,000 per month.

In addition, the court ordered the sureties to deposit their national identification cards at the court registry.

The case has been adjourned to a later date for further proceedings.
