Police have arrested four individuals in connection with the murder of Nana Owusu Korkor, the destooled Akwamuhene of Tanoso.

The suspects are Issifu Addae, alias Akwasi Addae, aged 48; Stephen Gyamfi, 55; Augustine Arhinful, 42; and Martha Mansah, 65. A police statement said they are currently in custody assisting with investigations.

All four have denied involvement in the murder.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Nana Owusu Korkor was removed from his position as Akwamuhene, after which Nana Akyeampong Duodu was installed as his successor.

The deceased reportedly rejected his destoolment and initiated legal proceedings against the royal family.

Police further established that Nana Owusu Korkor was accused of misappropriating five gold bars belonging to the family and selling family land to a developer after his removal.

In response, the suspects allegedly visited the disputed land, halted the developer’s work, and seized his block-molding machine.

During the confrontation, they reportedly threatened to “teach the deceased a lesson.”

Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the case, including the chieftaincy dispute involving Nana Akyeampong Duodu.

He reportedly travelled to the United States during the period under review.

    Police investigations are ongoing.
