Ghana is gearing up for a standout participation at the Global Entrepreneurship Festival (GEF) in Akure, Nigeria in November 2025.
At a press launch in Accra, Mr Nathan Kwabena Anokye Adisi, Event Chairperson and Board Member of GEF, urged entrepreneurs to seize the opportunity to showcase their innovation on a global stage.
Mr Adisi, speaking at the GEF Global Business Mixer and press conference in Accra, described the festival as a key platform for collaboration and inspiration, celebrating Ghana’s thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The festival, which will be held in Akure, Ondo State in Nigeria, will be attended by budding entrepreneurs across Africa as they engage in various capacity-building programmes such as networking, conferences, pitch sessions, awards, and a grand concert.
The event was attended by top business leaders and entrepreneurs, including Mr Richard Nii Armah Quaye and Dr Hassan Ayariga, as they respectively pledged their support for Ghana’s participation in the conference.
The event also marked the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Heads of the Global Entrepreneurship Festival, GIGM, and the National Information Technology Development Agency of Nigeria.
He praised local innovators for tackling challenges with creative solutions, emphasising their role in job creation and community development.
Mr Adisi stressed the importance of strong representation for Ghana at the conference, calling on entrepreneurs to register and join the delegation.
Mr Adisi also expressed hope for Ghana to host next year’s GEF, signaling the nation’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship.
Dr Summy Smart Francis, Project Lead for GEF, emphasised reshaping global perceptions of African innovation.
He noted that the GEF was a chance to engage global leaders and redefine Africa’s economic narrative, challenging the undervaluation of African goods and services.
Dr Francis highlighted the festival as a prime opportunity for networking and partnerships, urging investment in Africa’s untapped potential.
