Investigations by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) are currently underway following a fire that ravaged parts of the Accra Tourist Information Centre on Sunday, August 3.

Although the full extent of the damage is yet to be determined, Citi News can confirm that several offices, including the main reception area, were destroyed. Fortunately, no casualties were recorded, and firefighters successfully brought the blaze under control

Speaking to Channel One News on Monday, August 4, President of Pan Africa-Ghana (PAG), Ras Caleb Appiah-Levi, whose office was destroyed, suggested that a gas explosion may have caused the fire.

Further details were provided by the Greater Accra Assistant Chief Fire Officer, Rashid Kwame Nisau, who confirmed that the fire began on the top floor of the building.

“The fire has affected the structure on the top floor, but there are some rooms on the ground floor that were not affected. There have not been any fatalities,” he stated.

Meanwhile, staff of the National Film Authority, under the supervision of GNFS personnel, were seen opening the Authority’s safe and counting burnt currency following the incident.
