GOSANET Foundation, a non-profit making organisation, committed to promoting health, education and social development in partnership with the Volta Regional Library Authority Tuesday hosted a reading and fun exercise for selected school children in Ho.
The event, which was organised to mark Good Deeds Day, brought together 47 school children from selected schools in Ho, accompanied by their teachers, parents and volunteers to engage in a series of activities that blended education with entertainment. It was aimed at promoting kindness, learning and community service in a relaxed and child-friendly environment.
It featured a reading session where the children were encouraged to develop a love for reading and learning. They also engaged in fun and interactive activities like pick- and-act, musical chairs, and other creative games that fostered creativity and self-expression. Mr. Samuel Yao Atidzah, Executive Director of GOSANET Foundation, in an address emphasised the significance of the day as a reminder of the power of kindness and community service.
“The Day means helping someone in need, sharing what we have and spreading kindness wherever we go. Even helping a friend with homework or sharing a book can make a great difference,” he told the children. Mr. Atidzah highlighted the Foundation’s commitment to health and education across the Volta region. He said as part of the celebration, GOSANET Foundation organized awareness campaigns on HIV/AIDS, malaria prevention tuberculosis and the distribution of self-testing kits and condoms in the South Dayi district of the Volta region.
The Executive Director stated that everyone, regardless of age, could play a role in making their communities better through a small and meaningful act of kindness. Mr. Jonas Lagoh, Ho Municipal Librarian applauded the initiative and underscored the importance of Libraries as a safe environment for learning and development.
