Director-General of the Ghana Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Service, Mr. David Prah has lauded government’s substantial investment in the TVET sector, revealing that GHC1.2 billion has been injected into its development.

The event, organized by the Ghana TVET Service in collaboration with BFW Africa, brought together stakeholders from the construction industry, education sector, and international partners to discuss and promote the role of TVET in Ghana’s socio-economic development.

In his address, Mr. Prah emphasized that the GHC1.2 billion investment reflects the government’s commitment to positioning TVET as a cornerstone of Ghana’s industrialization and economic growth.

He outlined several key areas where the funds have been allocated, including infrastructure development, capacity building, curriculum modernization, industry partnerships, and ensuring access and inclusivity for all students.

“The Government of Ghana, under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, recognizes that TVET is essential for equipping our youth with the skills they need to thrive in a competitive global economy. This investment is not just financial; it is an investment in our future,” Mr. Prah stated.

The Director-General also underscored the importance of the partnerships between Ghana and Germany, particularly in the field of technical and vocational education, which have been instrumental in advancing the TVET agenda in the country.

The event featured various presentations and discussions on best practices in the construction industry, with a focus on enhancing the construction skills of the Ghanaian youth through TVET. Participants included representatives from the Ghana TVET Service, BFW Africa, the German Embassy, and industry leaders.

Mr. Prah’s speech was met with enthusiasm, as attendees applauded the government’s dedication to transforming the TVET sector and empowering the next generation of skilled professionals in Ghana.

The 3rd German Construction Day marked yet another milestone in the strong partnership between Ghana and Germany in the realm of technical and vocational education, setting the stage for further collaboration in the years to come.
