    Government policies will harness resources to produce good future leaders – Haruna Iddrisu

    Mr Haruna Iddrisu, the Minister of Education, has assured that government would allocate available resources to transform the education sector to produce high-quality future leaders for the success of the country.

    He said the future was digitalised and the government would prioritise digital literacy from the lower stage of education to the highest, for achievable goals. Mr Haruna, who was the special guest of honour, during 72nd Anniversary of Keta Senior High Technical School (Ketasco) in the Volta region, emphasised the importance of digital literacy, stating that government would introduce digital literacy policies from kindergarten to tertiary levels and make Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) education technical and technological hubs to improved quality education delivery.

    “The economy President Mahama and the NDC inherited is shaky and significant one and required massive reset to restructure the education to the one we want to benefit and reshape our future leaders for development,” he said. He promised that Ketasco would receive maximum support from government in the areas of infrastructure development, which include the construction of modern and well-fit bathroom and dining hall, toilet facilities, fence wall, and pick-up vehicle, among others for the benefit of teachers and students.

    He praised Ketasco for producing prominent and intelligent individuals and remained one of the best second circle institutions in Ghana that needed to be celebrated and supported to produce more and better future leaders through dedication and hard work. “Our government will make sure we transform Ghana’s future and give it a new face that will attract more investors to support policies that would impact possibly in all live regardless or religious background or ethnic group and this call for a collective effort from all well-meaning Ghanaians.”

    Mr Haruna, in honouring the hard work of Mr Stan Dogbey, a proud citizen of Volta and Deputy Chief of Staff, in the current government, also an old student of Ketasco, established an education fund dubbed: “Stan Dogbey Awards Scheme” at Keta Senior High Technical School to award and encourage best performing students. He said that the award scheme was dedicated to Mr Stan Dogbey, to show his loyalty to President Mahama adding that, “l will personally champion this award for overall best female and male students for the next 10 years to encourage others.”

    He commended the old students for the constant support to their alma mater and urged current students to learn hard and chalk more successes in future and be good role models. Togbi Tenge Dzokoto Gligui VII, “Dufia” of Anyako and Paramount Chief of Amugo-Vego Traditional Area, an old student, who chaired the anniversary, expressed satisfaction about the occasion and applauded all for a successful ceremony. He urged students to be disciplined and law-abiding citizens and above all study hard to attain greater height in life,” since education, humidity and hard work are the key factors to a successful brighter future.”

    Mr Augustt Kwame Innocent, the Headmaster of Ketasco, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency that, highlighted other challenges which included lack of modern dining Hall, toilet facilities, uniform for school cadet, among others needed urgent priorities and commended Education Minister, Mr Iddrisu for the kind gestures to help alleviate the challenges.

    The anniversary was highly attended by old and present students, Chiefs, stakeholders, and other dignitaries which included Mr James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, Mr Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey, Keta MP, Professor John Gatsi, Dean of University of Cape Coast School of Business, among others. The 72nd Ketasco anniversary which powered by 1995,1985,1995-,2000-,2005-, and 2015-year groups was on the theme, “Bridging the Gap; Harnessing the past and Inspiring the Future.”
