Barcelona will be boosted by the return of Robert Lewandowski for the club’s do-or-die Champions League semi-final second-leg tonight.

The Polish international missed the first leg of the Catalans’ tie against Inter Milan, as the two sides drew 3-3 last week.

Is Lewandowski fit to play for Barcelona?

The 36-year-old has been declared fit to return from a hamstring injury but is set to start on the bench tonight, Flick confirmed. “We’ve spoke yesterday and everything is going the right way, and [Lewandowski] is good,” the Barca boss said on Monday. “Much better than we expected, and he’s ready for the bench. So when we need him, maybe he can come in.”

The former Bayern Munich man also played no part in the crazy Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid either. Thankfully for him, his teammates got the job done, beating their bitter rivals 3-2.

However, with Simone Inzaghi’s side having home advantage in the Champions League second-leg, Hansi Flick will be desperate to count on his leading marksman. Lewandowski has scored 40 goals for Barcelona in all competitions this season and is closing in on a return…

It was later revealed he’d suffered a hamstring problem, with the severity of it still to be determined but it isn’t expected to be bad. As a result, he played no part in a 1-0 victory over Mallorca or the Copa del Rey final, and he wasn’t involved in the first-leg either.
