Isaac Sesi is a 27-year old entrepreneur and innovator who has recently been recognised as one of the world’s top innovators under 35 by the MIT Technology Review.
He leads a team that aims at securing the world’s food systems by building the next generation of technologies.
His goal is to inspire young entrepreneurs and innovators with his journey to serve as a guide to find their paths to success.
He grew up in Ghana and at an early age of 11, he lost his dad. This affected him and he had to take up the role of contributing towards his family’s income. His first business was selling homemade snacks in his neighbourhood. He then continued with a communication centre where people made calls and paid by the minute.
With these business skills, he sold drawing sheets to technical drawing students in Mfantsipim, where he had his high school education. He also identified that flash drives and hard disks were in demand and with the help of an ad his friend saw in the newspaper, they were able to buy at a cheaper price to sell. In addition to this, they printed posters and took pre orders. Their market size grew and they found the need to name their business. It was name as Macrovision. The naming of the business was not the only thing that was gained but he also obtained a desire to be an entrepreneur.
Upon completion, he took a gap year and then proceeded to Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology to study Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 2012. In his third year there, he founded Invent Electronics, an online electronics company that even makes delivery to your footstep.
In 2015 , together with his roommate and two other friends, Wires & Bytes was founded and their flagship app, Pasco, won the Gold Prize in the Education category of the MTN App Challenge 4.0. He is also a founding member of 2eweboys.com and Sesi Technologies.
He has featured in Spore Magazine, Feed The Future, Royal Academy of Engineering, Citi Business News, Disrupt Africa among others.
He is very passionate about helping young Africans develop skills in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). He runs 3 projects every year aimed at equipping young people with skills in STEM in Africa. Over 1000 young Africans have participated in these projects with many of them receiving full scholarships.
