Mr Kwaku Agyeman Manu, Ghana’s Health Minister has revealed that three local companies have submitted proposals to the government to be given the go-ahead to produce COVID-19 vaccines for the country.
Speaking to the media, the Health Minister emphasised that some of the companies have been visited by the committee set by the government to provide an action plan for vaccines to be manufactured locally.
“There are about three local companies who have sent proposals to the committee to start producing vaccines, there are in serious engagement will the committee. the committee will access these companies and make recommendations to the Health Ministry in relation to this initiative”
The committee which is chaired by Professor Kwabena Frimpong Boateng was constituted by President Akufo-Addo to prepare the country to locally produce vaccines.
The Health Minister further assured Ghanaians that the president is poised to see to it that Ghana is equipped to manufacture its own COVID-19 vaccines to curb the deadly coronavirus disease.
