The exercise is being carried out across all the regions across the country where all the donors are taken through basic health checks and counseling, to ensure that they were fit to donate blood.

Mr Collins Agyei, the Northern Regional Area Sales Manager, MTN Ghana, who spoke about the exercise in Tamale, underscored the company’s commitment towards improving health care delivery in the country.

The “Save a Life” Campaign is an initiative by staff of MTN Ghana, its trade partners and the public to show love and compassion on Valentine Day (February 14), by donating a unit of blood to save lives.

Mr Agyei indicated that the campaign had helped to revive voluntary blood donation among staff of MTN Ghana and members of the public in helping to save lives.

He said, “We believe this campaign has resulted in reduction of maternal mortality, since the loss of blood is one of leading causes of maternal deaths”.

The campaign, over the years had earned MTN Ghana Foundation some recognitions, such as the Highest Corporate Blood Donor in 2013, second Highest Corporate Blood Donor in 2014 and one of the Highest Corporate Blood Donor in 2015 respectively.

Master Akram Musah, a student of Tamale SHS, after donating blood, shared his impression with the Ghana News Agency, saying it was his second time of donating blood under the “Save a Life” Campaign and it was a great feeling to know that Ihe was contributing to save the lives of other people, which was the best way to show love to the world.
