The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it will outdoor its manifesto on August 22 ahead of the 2020 general elections. The Dr. Bawumia-led Committee drafted the policy document in the hope that Ghanaians will retain the party for another four years.
According to the NPP General Secretary, John Boadu, the Steering Committee will sit and finalise the manifesto on August 11, 2020; three days ahead of the launch.
Mr. Boadu said that President Akufo-Addo’s government has delivered promises made to Ghanaians in the lead up to the 2016 Presidential and Parliamentary polls. He said the manifesto contained key policies that will help consolidate Ghana’s development.
The NPP is confident that the yet-to-be-outdoor campaign promises will get the party’s mandate renewed. Also speaking on okay FM’s “ade akye ebia” morning show on Tuesday, he stated, that the Jean Mensah led EC deserves some accolades for the peaceful registration so far towards the compilation of the new voter register, geared towards election 2020. “It looks like the opposition NDC had a hidden agenda behind kicking against the compilation of the new voter’s register since they held their heads so high to make sure that the EC does not go through the registration process successfully” he said.
He added that, Ghanaians should not pay heed to the opposition NDC when they try to rubbish the free SHS program which was introduced by President Nana Addo.
He further encouraged journalists to be present at every gathering or exhibition by any party in Ghana so as to get information on the ground for dissemination at all times. “once journalist are present, no party can cook up stories against each other, because the journalists will capture the actual story after thorough investigation” he stated.
Ghana did not have an Ecowas registration but a registration exercise for its citizens, hence the need to make sure that there are no foreign names captured in the new voter registration to ensure a free and fair elections for the upcoming December polls, he finally added.
